BioArtAttack 2026

The Royal Society of Biology’s BioArtAttack 2026 is a children’s 2D art drawing and painting competition for 7 – 18 year olds to draw or paint fungi, medicinal and aromatic plants, or any species recently listed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, with the UK this year celebrating 50 years since the United Kingdom ratified CITES. The competition is open until 23 July, and prizes include an invitation to take part in an experience day event at the Royal Veterinary College. Winners of BioArtAttack (UK) competition will be awarded a prize bundle provided by Defra. Winners of BioArtAttack (Nancy Rothwell Prize 2026, specimen drawing) competition will receive a £50 cash prize. Spelling Bee 2026

Following a tremendous third year, the biology Spelling Bee returns in autumn 2026, supported by the Royal Society of Biology through its Outreach and Engagement Grant Scheme. Teachers can register their school’s students via the online form by Wednesday 16 September, using a school email address as the contact. The competition is open to all secondary aged students across the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man. It begins in late September, with an asynchronous final during Biology Week on Friday 16 October.
