The team at the STEM Hub proudly oversees the North East, Yorkshire and Humber STEM Ambassador programmes, on behalf of STEM Learning.

Our dedicated team facilitates STEM Ambassadors from diverse backgrounds, generously volunteering their time and expertise to champion STEM subjects and inspire young learners. Through innovative, hands-on, and captivating approaches, these STEM role models illuminate the practical applications of STEM subjects, fostering genuine understanding among our youth. With a thriving network of over a thousand dedicated volunteers across the North East, Yorkshire, and Humber, the STEM Hub is committed to bolstering the STEM curriculum, promoting STEM careers, and invigorating learning experiences.

Janine Marshall

Janine Marshall

Head Of Education And Skills

With over 25 years of experience of working with schools and colleges, Janine is well versed in the education arena. Janine’s main role is to oversee team direction and business development although currently her favourite activity is being a student mentor and working alongside her fantastic mentees. Contact Janine for further information about the STEM Hub or team activity.

Team Leader

Claire is responsible for managing relationships between the STEM Hub and local schools and colleges. Claire joins us having spent over 25 years in the STEM arena working across the region on various STEM initiatives. Most recently, she ran her own business Fusion STEM offering bespoke support to local schools and STEM organisations.

Dawn Ross

Dawn Ross

Partner Liaison Coordinator

Dawn Ross is a dedicated member of the STEM Team at RTC, passionate about connecting businesses with STEM initiatives to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. She works closely with companies to develop engagement opportunities, helping them support STEM outreach and workforce development. Through her role, Dawn builds partnerships that promote hands-on learning, career exploration, and industry involvement in STEM education.

Josh Minto

Josh Minto

Education Relationships Manager

In his previous role, Josh worked for the Nissan Skills Foundation where he was involved in the preparation and delivery of various STEM project sessions/events. Through this role, he worked closely with both primary and secondary school teachers by acting as a mentor for teams competing in regional and national competitions such as First Lego League and Vex Robotics. Josh graduated from the University of Sunderland in 2021 with a BA Hons degree in Childhood Studies, where he wrote his dissertation on “Why are there fewer girls participating in STEM subjects at GCSE?”

Sally Wilkinson

Sally Wilkinson

STEM Project Manager

Sally manages various projects within the STEM Team, working with industry partners and schools. She is extremely passionate about all things STEM. She started her career in Engineering in the 1990’s and spent 2 decades working in Aeronautical and Marine Engineering, running her own consultancy company. In an elite and male dominated world she learnt first hand of the barriers facing women and working class people in this field. Striving to be instrumental in changing this she qualified as a Secondary Physics teacher in 2016 and then moved on to lead the Sea Cadets Outreach team for 6 years before joining RTC North.

Sam Harris

Sam Harris

STEM Event Coordinator

Sam plays a key role in RTC North’s STEM team, delivering impactful events that connect schools, businesses, and industry professionals. With a background in events, PR, and marketing, Sam is passionate about creating engaging and immersive experiences that inspire young people. Co-founder of the female-led events company Marisam Events, she has worked on major festivals and national projects, bringing a creative approach to STEM engagement.

Zara Clarke

Zara Clarke

Project Manager

Zara is an experienced project manager who has always been passionate about STEM, originally from an industry background she has accumulated 20 years of education and project management experience.  One of Zara’s strengths is partnership working and she is the go-to person for all the STEM outreach projects in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
